Information about our Premium and Comfort Range of Thermal / Acoustic Insulation Rolls

Our flagship products are our Thermal / Acoustic insulation rolls, which are the best performing, safest and most natural insulation products available. Please read on to find out why.

Material Advantages

• Produced using 100 % pure new sheep's wool, a contiunuous and sustainable resource

• The wool is naturally washed and mechanically bonded, no chemicals or glues are needed to hold the fibres together

• Wool fibres are breathable, meaning they absorb and release moisture without reducing thermal performance

• Sheep Wool Insulation rolls are produced to standard width requirements - saving time when fitting

With Borax and Natural Rubber Preservatives

• The insulation follows the shape of rafters, studs and joists for a permanently tight fit

• Multiple layered wool fibres effectively reduce airborne sound transfer

• Safe to handle and work with - Meaning low construction costs and hazard free installation

• Wool does not support combustion and will extinguish itself in the event of fire

• Technically certified products with online advice and telephone helpline service

• Long lifetime, environmentally safe and a biodegradable raw material

Energy Saving & Safe To Use

•Wool is designed by nature to save energy

• Sheep Wool Insulation also requires only a fraction of the energy to produce compared to that of man made counterparts

• This means that Sheep Wool Insulation will pay back its energy costs more than 5 times sooner (only 15 kW of energy are used to produce 1 m³)

• Sheep Wool Insulation is perfectly safe to touch and requires no specialised safety clothing or equipment to fit

• It causes no irritation to the eyes, skin or lungs and wool fibres present no hazard to your health

A Lifetimes Performance

• Once installed, wool can absorb and release moisture without reducing it's thermal performance

• This makes Sheep Wool Insulation particularly suitable for use in breathable construction situations

• Wool has a higher fire resistance than cellulose and cellular plastic insulation materials

• It does not burn, but instead singes away from fire and extinguishes itself (Wool has a very high inflammation point of 560°C due to its high Nitrogen content of ~16%)

• Wool is self extinguishing because of its high Limiting Oxygen Index (LOI=25.2), which means to completely burn wool an oxygen content of 25.2% is necessary whereas air only has 21%

• Sheep Wool Insulation is completely reusable and biodegradable

• Ideal for newly built houses and restoration (refurbishment) projects

• Wool preserves timber constructions - it can absorb up to 33% of its own weight in moisture generating ~ 1000 kilojoules of heat for every kilogram of wool moving the temperature above dew-point

• Sheep Wool Insulation does not settle due to the high elasticity of the wool fibres

Applications of Sheep Wool Insulation

Sheep Wool Insulation Thermal / Acoustic rolls can be used throughout a building to reduce heat loss. The following diagram shows the typical heat loss of uninsulated elements of a house.

This image shows heat loss in an uninsulated house and where Sheep Wool Insulation can be used.

Example of Roof Construction
